Lots of people use a home made spary containing soap and a little oil to deter aphids. This recipe came from a post by Donna at Garden Walk Garden Talk:
- 1 Tbsp Vegatable oil
- 2 cups water
- 2 Tbsp soap
Put this mix in a spray and mist the affected plants thoroughly. We added some lemon juice to this general recipe last year and it rescued our roses. I’m hoping that the number of over wintering ladybirds I have seen this year will mean we have less of a problem, but at least we have something easy and cheap that works in reserve!
