Cathy had one on her post last week. I am amazed there are so many about in the UK. I have only seen one of the moths this year, but no caterpillars. They are a bit weird aren’t they!

I’ve never seen them before Cathy, maybe it has been a particularly good year for them? Those huge eye spots and the weird little hook near the back make this a very strange garden resident.

I was going to say that someone posted one of these last week, amazing aren’t they?

They are, never seen anything like it before! I’d love to see one of the moths.

Wonderful. Sadly I’ve never seen one, or the moth it becomes. xx

Neither have I Flighty, perhaps next year.

I think Pauline at Lead up the garden Path showed one last year she may have it as a tag.

They are weirdly wonderful, I saw another on my way back from the butchers yesterday, just crawling down the road!

It’s always nice to find a new visitor in the garden and even better when we can capture it with the camera.

I’ve seen more attractive visitors here though Angie! He’ll not win any beauty contests…

What a strange looking beastie!

Isn’t he? I hope he makes it through the winter to become a moth, maybe I will get to see one of those next year.

Hi Beth, he was definitely an unexpected find, but a fascinating one.

Yes, I had it as a WW recently – but had to look it up to find out what it was!

I was lazy and relied on the wisdom of the blogosphere!

What a bizarre looking creature! I’m definitely keeping my eyes peeled for one now. The adult moth looks as if it might be quite attractive.

Yes, I think the moth could be a beauty, will have to look out for them next year. The caterpillar, though could be the stuff of nightmares…
